The pounds aren't the only things coming off...

My husband has been doing Weight Watchers with me the past 10 weeks. He has lost about 20 pounds, and was due for a cholesterol and triglyceride check at the doctor. He went in Friday morning, and the results were amazing.

Total Cholesterol - down 35 points to 222
HDL - up 9 points to 47
LDL - down 22 points to 159
Triglycerides - down 160 points to 80

This is in only 10 weeks of eating right! He has a bad family history for heart health--his father's father died suddenly at age 23 of pneumonia, but in the autopsy they found arterosclerosis in his arteries. My husband's triglycerides had been going up and up, and he has been on medication for the past year or so to bring them down into a safely high level. After Friday, he was taken off his triglyceride medication. His cholesterol spiked after he was on the triglyceride medication, so I am interested to see what those numbers look like in 3 months.

We are now firm believers in eating right, and Weight Watchers has taught us to do it and be accountable.

(BTW, I am almost halfway to my weight goal and have dropped 2 sizes in 10 weeks...it's working for me, too!) :)
