I am learning to quilt, and this is my first "real" quilt project. I've made a couple on my own before, but now I'm learning how to do it properly. It's amazing what a difference proper techniques make. I'll post pictures when I have it done.
This is my beloved new sewing table. I just love the detail on the front and the simple legs. It fits my machine perfectly and works great as a sewing table.
Welcome to my surprise of the week. Last week we were in the fabric store one evening and my husband asked about sergers. They are fascinating to him for some reason. I quickly caught the vision of a serger, but having just gotten a new sewing machine a few weeks ago I couldn't ask for a serger right away. Sunday night I found the exact serger we'd seen on Craigslist for over half off the new price. The owner had barely used it--and to my amazement, my husband agreed we get it. I am really loving the serger...I even figured out how to thread it!
My husband isn't the only one fascinated by the serger. Miss M loves to watch me use it. She wanted a sleeping bag and pillow for her favorite, patched 1,000 times Piglet. I whipped a simple set up quickly on the serger. The next night, she decided she needed pajamas, a hat, and slippers. Below are my rudimentary efforts. I'm pretty excited I came up with something without a pattern.
Our life has been filled with craigslist this week, between the serger, the freezer we got, and all the things we've had to sell to make room for the freezer in the garage. I am ready for my life to settle down. I should know better by now, though. Our life is seldom settled down.
