Megan has been campaigning to go fishing since winter. We had a beautiful Saturday ahead of us, so we planned our first trip out.
As we were packing to go, Jesse grabbed all the rods except Meg's favorite rod. We had recently purchased a new rod at Cabela's, and he figured she would want to use that one, even though it was twice her size. (Mistake one)
We got to our favorite lake, and found a nice bank spot to fish. Megan headed out with the new rod. It was hard for her to use and she was almost immediately in tears. Her long awaited trip was a disaster because her favorite rod wasn't there. We tried everything, but she just moped around. Finally, she came to our picnic table and proceeded to eat almost everything I had brought for snacks. It turns out, she had eaten a small brownie for breakfast at 8 am. It was 11 now. (Mistake 2)
Food in her tummy, she was in better spirits and tried using one of our other rods. It was getting to be later in the day, and the fish disappeared. Hence, it is called "fishing" and not "catching."
After a couple of hours we called it a day and headed out.
I hope our next trip goes more smoothly. :)
