It has been nearly a year since I flew out to see my mom in her final days. Her body was ravaged by a disease called Rheumatoid Arthritis. It had destroyed her body over the 32 1/2 courageous years she battled it. She passed away not long after my visit. My sister faced those final days with mom with added grief--for she suffers from the very disease that took our mother's life. In honor of my sister and in the memory of my mom, I will be participating in this year's Arthritis Foundation fundraising walk May 17th in Portland.
